Default HP iPAQ rz1710 with TomTom?

Hello,

I need some advice please.

I am considering to order HP iPAQ rz1710 from http://www.totalpda.co.uk/HP-iPAQ-rz...UK-refurb.aspx

Will TomTom work with this HP iPAQ rz1710 PDA?

I can buy TomTom software separately. Do I need to buy GPS receiver as well? (Which GPS receiver do you recommend?). I think I will buy TomTom and GPS receiver from Ebay.
What else do I need to buy in order to get TomTom working? SD Card?

Thanks.

Hi there, for tomtom to work, you will need:

A car cradle (these are model specific so ensure that you get one for the 1710),
A SD card (at least 128mb),
A GPS receiver (many available but ensure it is not bluetooth as the 1710 does not have this function),
And of course the tomtom software (if you buy from ebay, make sure it is legitimate as there are a lot of blackmarket versions out there).

Hope this helps

You will also need a cigarette lighter socket in your car and a power cable to link up to the PDA holder. The holder will power up your GPS device.

I have the rz1710 too and it has been very reliable. Make sure you get a bona fide version of TomTom (the best navigation software in my opinion) - you will need an original product activation code (comes with the software) for it to work.

I would recommend obtaining an SD card too - 512MB or 1GB and copy the TomTom files over so that you can hold downloadable POIs such as shops, speed cameras etc (see www.POIedit.com). Keep the original SD card though! 1GB Kingston SD cards are about £16.00 now on eBay...

Have a look at Mio 168 too, or perhaps the P350 - both have in-built GPS receivers. However, AVOID the P550 for now - I've just sent one back as it didn't work properly!

Best wishes
Gavwad

For an HP 1710?

We dont actually do packages for these anymore as teh unit waws discontinued about 3 years ago.

Its actually costs about the same to buy one of the all in one units these days anyway.
