Is a pda really useful or just a big boys toy? Hello,
I am currently looking for a pda solution on which i can also run gps
software such as tomtom. I had more or less decided on an Ipaq with
built in wireless but i have a couple of questions;
1) i read somewhere ,perhaps on another website, that pda's running
windows mobile OS (instead of Palm) often need to be rebooted, presumably
due to lockups /malfunction. Is this the case and how prevalent is it?
Windows based PDA's can lock up but this is mostly caused buy users
running many programs at the same time, Palm's are single tasking so you
can only do one thing at once which causes less lockups.
I recently spoke to a friend who had spent a fair bit of cash on a mid range ipaq and tom tom and found it useless becuase it had a tendancy to lockup/need rebooting. In the end he bought a dedictaed tom tom unit which was faultless
Also,is a wireless pda really worth it,i mean, what are the chances of
dothing anything meaningfull such as web browsing,on a 3.5" screen?.
Most of the time I use the PDA on the web to check email, msn, and
occasionally go on web sites like forums but it can be hard to browse
the web.
I have been put off a little by this and thought maybe i should just buy
a tom tom one self contained unit?
I'd welcome any comments (and won't hold you to them !)
thanks
