Default Really need some help :( can't see sd slot

I've just bought an Ipaq second hand off the net and all was going very well and everything functioning as it should...but then I messed it up BIG TIME!

The problem is this:

The SD card slot does not function any more! I know the card has still got all my stuff on it cause I've checked in a card reader, but i cant see it so when it boots it isn't loading any of my software because it is all on the card. It's as if I dont even have an SD slot on the machine now!

The reason in this: (I think)

I accidentally deleted a file it loaded at startup becuase I thought it was something else.

In startup there are the following files now:
/windows/startup:

aFlashman
ARI_ENG
cFlashman
EVMON
poutlook
vBar
WICUI

There was one more file, but I've deleted it thinking it was "HandyMasters HandyShortcuts" Which I was trying to uninstall. I can't remember the exact name of the file, all I know is that I'm pretty sure it had a double H in it along with some underscores so I thought ah that will be handyhandy. But it wasnt, it was obviously something that is needed to read the SD card slot.

PLEASE HELP ME

This thing is brand new to me and I'm gutted I don't know what to do, all I know is that if it can be fixed i will make a backup before i tinker next time

Cheers all,

G

I don't think the SD slot is controlled by any files in the start up folder. It's more like an issue with the BIOS. Check to see if any other SD cards can be recognised to iliminate a faulty card etc.
I had this problem earlier this year and it turned out to be a faulty SD slot, although the CF part still worked. The advice from HP etc was to undertake soft and hard resets as this would re set certain parts of the operating system. Try this first but if that still fails you may have a broken SD slot. If its new then you can return it under warranty etc. If not you are looking at about £70 repair bill. I sent mine to www.ipaqrepair.co.uk who turned it around in 10 days. (HP wanted over £200 to repair it)
Let us know how you get on.

Another thought is, are you up to date with ROM version etc. These can be downloaded from the HP site.

Also take a look at this thread http://mobilitytoday.com/forum/showt...3111#post13111 which seems to have similar issues.

Turns out im just a complete noob. I did a hard reset in the end and it fixed it

Got a new problem now but I'll create a new thread for it.

Thanks all,
