Default Reccomendation of a PDA

Hi am new here.....

Am wanting a reccomendation for a PDA and also advice on development software for it - total newb with PDA's.

The unit is for use in the following way:

* When at the PC I need to be able to connect to a largish MS Access database of 100,000'ish records, and transfer new records between it and the PC. Basicly want the functionality of the pc database on the PDA.
*Connect to an internal wireless or may be a wired network to receive email notices as the user moves around site.

Upto press we have been using dedicated handhelds, Telxon units, and have limited functionality bt are now looking to move on to something more open and new.

Any help or advice for this pda newb?

regards,

Matt

Something like the ipaq 2490 would do most of this. You would need a version of pocket access for the database as it doesnt come with this and i would say a memory card for storing the files. The 2490 has Wifi so you willbe able to connect to your wireless network.
It comes with a desktop cradle to connect to a PC and you could buy a hotsync cable if to connect to different PC's if you want something a bit more portable than a cradle.

It also has outlook so you can access emails.

The X5 is a very good machine.

I am/was using TT5 on it with a CF GPS card.

The Haicom 303s or 305III are both good CF cards. You'd be looking at between £70 and £100 depending on retailers offers/pricing.

Which ever CF card you opt for, make sure it's SirfStarIII for good signal and GPS locks in 'urban canyons'.

Some good reviews - http://pocketgps.co.uk/item-menu.php?idSubCat=6
