Mio A201

Before I hang myself can someone please explain why my Mio A201 cannot get a GPS Signal?
I have double checked the com ports and the Tom Tom software is all correct
what next?
Or do I just look for a piece of rope

Stand outside under a clear sky (no trees or anything between you and the sky) and as far away from tall buildings/obstructions as possible..

It can take a while, especially if the first use as the device needs to update it's sat loaction records BEFORE it is able to work out where you are.
