The palm is meant to be single tasking and windows mobile is meant to be multi tasking. When you are using the PDA's there is not really a lot of difference though they are both designed to do the same job.
If the price is not an issue for you then I would go the 2490 as it has a slightly higher spec and extra upgrade slot and comes with a desktop cradle.
