PDA with GOOD camera? built in or add-on

hey,

looking to buy a PDA but i want one with a camera.. a good camera.. not a 1.3mp with digital zoom

seeing how it's pointless to carry a PDA and camera both in your pocket, i'd be looking to replace my minolta DiMAGE X (3.2MP 3x optical, 4xdigital zoom and 640x480,30fps video with sound.)

so far from what i've seen from asus, palm, ipaq there doesn't seem to be anything close to that.. all 1.3mp.. .however there have been 3,4,5mp modules available for camera phones for 2 years now, and i would find it hard to believe that someone hasn't utilized them for PDA camera's.

I haven't seen any that would make me swap my Minolta to be honest. I think it'll be a while yet before we see really good cameras in PDAs. I haven't even looked at the modules you mentioned other than one HP did a few years back. Which models have you seen that are 3/4/5MP?

well i dont have any links handy,, but way back in 2004 panasonic introduced a 3mp module for camera phones.. i think the model number was km3500v or possibly gp-km3500v

.. since that time i've seen sharp introduce 2mp and 3 mp modules with 2x optical zoom..

and not sure who, i know samsung was one.. but 4mp and 5mp modules with digital zooms

and looking around for the samsung 5mp link, i discoverd the phone they built it around utilizes an upgraded 5mp 3xoptical zoom module.. and they also have an 8megapixel camera phone on the market.. not just module

Ah OK, sorry I thought yo were reffering to "modules" like rather than those built into mobile phones.

Yeah I don't see why we havent got higher res models yet but I guess it's because they are advancing the other features of the PDAs that the camera gets bolted on as an after though. That Lenovo model looks smart but I doubt we'll see them over here.
