Question Selective synchronisation?

I need a PDA to synchronise with my work MS outlook calendar and contacts (on my work laptop), but not allow my personal contacts and calendar entries to appear on my work laptop/networked MS Outlook.

I am happy for all information from a PDA to be sychronised / backed up on my personal home PC

Is this selective synchronisation possible / easy using Palm or MS Windows Mobile?

Thanks for your help

Active sync lets you create a partenership for two different machines. Each partnership can be set to synchronise different things. Although it would be all calender items or all contacts. I dont think there is anyway to synchronise certain contacts or specific calender entries if thats what you mean.

For example on my PDA when I connect it to my home pc it syncs calender, tasks and contacts. When I connect it to my work machine it just syncs calender and tasks.

This means I dont get all my work and personall contacts mixed up.

Pretty sure using WM5 and Outlook 2003 (might be in XP/2002 too) there is an option to make contacts private. I think there are also categories, but not sure if there's an option to select which to sync.

However, I think this will stop any sync of that contact. Never really played with that function and sync'ing with my PDA.

Another way, if on WM5, is enable sync with an exchange server (just enter any old rubbish when prompted for info) This brings up a lot more options, for all sync connections. Enable what you want (if it's there/possible), then delete the 'fake' exchange option.
