PDA sleeves

I have a really basic question and apologise in advance for not knowing the answer but ...

I have an iPAQ 2210 that I'd like to mount on my bike. I've found a great mount but a review says it is designed to be used with a pda sleeve.

Here's the basic question: what is a PDA sleeve and what's it for? Just for protection or to use with GPS software? And do all sleeves have a gps antenna?

Also does the sleeve power the pda? I use an extended battery with my pda. Will this sit in the mount and/or sleeve?

If someone could explain the basics I would be grateful!

The sleeves were for older Ipaqs some had CF and SD slots others had GPS. You dont really get them any more as all the PDA's they fitted have been discontinued and most PDA's these days have all the features the sleeves added anyway.

I dont remember seeing any sleeve for 2210 though.
