Screen flicker on Zire 72

I have used a Zire 72 for more than 1 year and recently, it started to flicker uncontrollably for no apparent reason. I have uninstalled 3rd party apps and done innumerous soft and hard resets to no avail. Although sometimes a hard reset will seemingly make it work normally, but after a while the flickering resumes!

You can see the pics of my palm's flickering condition here.
Any suggestion for the cause of the problem and how to resolve it?
