Talking Data logging with Excel and PDAs

Hi there,

I work in IT for an electronics company and one of the "great" ideas from our managers is to get "some sort of handheld" to pick up an existing Excel spreadsheet on our network and to update it "on-the-fly" to track progress of products etc. As a PC user all my life I have never had the need to look into PDAs of any kind so I am moderately clueless with regards to thier differences/applications. Just wondered if anyone had any advice on which one to go for and what sort of software to use to view and edit the excel files as described. I would be very greatful for any help!

Cheers!

It is doable as almost all of the PDA's we sell have excel built in so you would be able to view and edit the the spreadsheets.

Something like the HP Ipaq 2490 would do the trick as it has a good spec and has bluetooth and wifi to give you net access.

It uses windows mobile 5 so you have pocket word, excel and outlook there is even a powerpoint viewer. The software will look and feel like the versions on your PC although you wont have exactly the same option they will do acll the basic stuff you need.

I can get these either new or refurbished depending on what you prefer.
