Default PDA, Tomtom and the dead battery!

Hello there,

I've an acer35, tomtom5 and a habit of letting my pda battery go flat. I installed everything acording to helpful hints and instructions from this forum, but of course when the battery died (whilst nav-ing around amsterdam), it lost all of the program software. The maps were on the sd card, but as the tomtom website was down, I couldn't load the software from there either. Same went for my wifi software too.

Any tips about what to do to save the prog somewhere not affected by battery loss?

Many thanks

Carosd

You need to put a New folder onto your SD Card, I've named mine New Folder (original eh?). Then locate the following .cab files from your CD Set or the 5.21 update into the folder. You MUST change the individual .cab properties to Read Only or they will disappear after one use.

gps.cab (only if you are using bluetooth)
PIMAddin.cab
ttn.cab
wzd.cab. (if you are not using Bluetooth).

You will also need a copy of the .cfg file from each of the maps you are using.

In the event of a flat battery, connect to mains charger or car cigar lighter.

Go to File Explorer and select SD Card - New Folder.

Tap on the .cab files to re-install TT.

Copy and paste the .cfg files back to their respective maps.

For voices. Put another folder on your SD Card and name it Voices.

Using File Explorer locate the voices and cut and paste to the Voice Folder.

Thanks for that comprehensive reply. I'll try it out this evening. My BC died earlier this year :-(

I should have added, you will only need to do this should the .cfg files become corrupt or disappear at any time.

That's sad. We lost one too, aged four and a half, she, a blue merle, suffered from Epilepsy. We still have our three boys - black and white, red merle and a red and white tri.

There are dogs and there are BC's.
