Angry HP iPAQ rz 1710 won't start

After a hard reset the unit will not get past the screen alignment stage (25 goes) still the aligment page! We use it for TomTom5. MS 'active sync' is installed but should it start anyway staright after the aligment screen test?

Until you get past the alignment test, then you on't be able to restore you backup (I hope you made one right before the hard reset!)

Remove screen protectors, and ensure there is no fluff between the case and the screen (run a business card between the gap on all sides).

When up and running, before connecting to the PC, set the time and date and name your PDA the same as it was before, and was on the connection name. Connect, but cancel the auto backup. Instead, goto tools and restore.

Out of curiousity, why the hard reset?

Sadly, a friend? reset it without asking first, nor was it backed up, gawd! Will try the screen clean you suggest first. Is there no hope if it wasn'tbacked up?G.

A hard reset wipes everything, and returns it to 'out-of-the-factory' condition. All your apps and data are now lost if stored on the device (I hope you didn't have anything important on there!). Anything on mem cards is still there.

You'll be needing the sticky on re-install in the main TT section of this forum.

Try a soft reset. should bring it to life.

Sticky is an announcement post. You'll need - Activating TomTom 5.x due to reinstallation or new device
