Post First pda for use abroad

I am looking to buy my first pda for my husband. I need address book, internet/e-mail access etc. No need for GDS.
We are moving to South Africa next year so it needs to be compatible to use over there.
Don't want to spend too much or get anything too sophisticated.
Please help, am feeling a little over-awed by all jargon.
Thanks
Didee

A PDA can be used in any country, the only compatability issue would be making sure you have the appropriate travel/power adaptor. By GDS i take it you mean GPS or GPRS which is the Sat Nav System and phone capabilities respectively, and there are several PDA's available that dont have either.

For a very well priced PDA we have the Acer N50, with both bluetooth and wireless connections, running Windows Mobile 2003 for £129 ex VAT and Delivery and for a more up to date model, we have the HP IPAQ 2490 at £223 ex VAT and Del.

Both are excellent models which will do everything you have stated above and much much more, depending on what uses you can find for them. Hand Held computers are getting to be every bit as versatile as PC's are now but unfortunately this does lead to a great deal of geekspeak, jargon and technical terms being slung around and it all gets very very confusing.

I hope this helps a little.
