Default iPhone hardware update to feature GPS?

It looks like there are rumours abound regarding a possible iPhone update later next year, which could possibly integrate a GPS receiver into the next incarnation of the device. If such an update goes ahead, current iPhone owners are likely to be more than miffed.

Perhaps we will see the release of GPS integrated mounts to satisfy current owners. Carcomm already have a non-GPS cradle in the making for the iPhone, so it wouldn't be a spectacular technological leap to provide a GPS enabled cradle. Let's hope that Apple decide to provide the software functionality if/when they decide to foray into the world of GPS.

There are a few iPhone topics on www.n95users.com.

iPhone users seem to think the US launch version can have 3G, GPS, stereo bluetooth etc enabled by a firmware update - whereas these are hardware limitations and will never change.

Then tell them the EU and APAC region iPhone specs and watch the iPhone fanboi's bet humpy about how their device is 5 years more advanced than ANYTHING around. What with no MMS, no 3G etc. Even the only valid advanced point, the OS, has been replicated by HTC and launched BEFORE the iPhone
