Default PDA + Phone

Hi there all, I'm really sorry if you have all been asked this before, but i went into carphonewarehouse today to look at the 02 XDAs and the T-mobile vario 2 and they said that on pay monthly i wouldnt be able to connect them to my phone wireless broadband. not sure why that is or if they were just trying to get me to purchase a monthly contract, anyway the reason im here is to ask you peeps the following:

Im looking for a PDA which can also be used as a phone, or the other way round. The main things that I will be using the device for are recieving incoming calls, syncing with my outlook on my home pc and using as a general diary. Also when i can get a signal out and about or at home using it to check and send emails. It also has to be practical so for example if i get a call and need to check my diary i can put the device onto loud speaker and easily access the calendar function on the device. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks for your speedy responce as ill be going out over the weekend to purchase the device for my business. many thanks.

keith

So long as the device supports Wi-fi, then there is no reason why you can't use it. Seems the sales person didn't know what they're talking about.

As for wireless hotspots, if you're going to use it a lot, the BT do a package for £25/month which you could run 2 devices 24/7 in what would effectively be unlimited.

Thats exactly what i thought. Silly sales person. SO... the ones ive been looking at so far are the O2 XDA trion or orbit, the T-mobile Vario 2 or compact III, the vodafone 1605 or 1640 and the HP rw6815. Do you have any suggestions as to which is better? I believe the vario 2 has the faster wi-fi connection but not too sure about the other. many thanks for any help

I've played with an Orbit, and they are quite good IMO.

The right size, and good all round features. But that was only used for a day when I had one on test for our firm. They've gone for them, and we're STILL awaiting delivery from O2 directly
