Mio and iGO software for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices is locked on the SD Card, pop the SD card in your device and it will install programme.

Should you change your device you would do the same, no activation to worry about. However, it's locked so you can only use mapping on one device at a time.

Thanks for your reply. When I put the MIO program on the SD card it certainly didn't load automatically, I had to run it from the card. It seemed to work OK except it would not lock onto a signal.
Any suggestions?

Could be the port's locked by something else, make sure you have stopped all programmes running in the background.

Check your settings, usually Com2 - Baud 4800.

Don't forget there will be no data for where the Sats. are. Go outside under an unobstructed sky and wait, could be 20 or 30 minutes the first time (cold start), after this the locks will come faster (warm or hot start) unless you haven't used it for 5 or 6 days when it will revert to 'cold start'.

You mention Australia. My son, who's down there at the moment, had problems getting his to work. Make sure you set the time zone, he hadn't, and change your 'Home', he hadn't, or it will try to navigate from your Home to Destination in Oz, which can't be done unless you have a full set of maps covering the whole journey, and to my knowledge there aren't any. Once there your device will be back to 'cold start' and you'll have to wait a while.

I have tried all your suggeastions and still nothing. The original PaPaGo maps locks on in seconds. The Mio map I am using is on the SD card from my Car Sat/Nav. Do you know if a different format map is required for PDA's?

Btw, the MIO maps cover the whole of Australia which is where I am living.
There must be a way to get it working.

Ah yes, that would be the case with TomTom, but if Mio works except for locking on, it's got to be the Port of Baud setting. Although I've noticed your device is Windows Mobile CE and Mio/iGO usually need Windows Mobile 5.

Have you noticed if there is an auto-detect in your settings or when showing the Sat. view?

My Car Sat/nav is WinCE 4.2 and my PDA is WinCE 5 I can't get an auto detect on the PDA but I'll try and use other port settings.
