Default Totally clueless person needs help

Hi,
Hope this is the right forum for this...
I'm a very untechnological person who is looking to buy a PDA mainly for organising things but I would also like to use it for things like e-mail and updating Word/Powerpoint documents.
The only trouble is that I don't have a home computer or landline I'm a doctor and mainly use the computer in the library at work, I save my work on a memory stick.
My questions are:
1) Is it possible to get the internet via a PDA without an existing contract?
2) Will I be able to create word/powerpoint documents on the PDA and store them on a memory stick?

If anyone can help me with this I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks.
Sian

You can use SD cards with PDAs, not memory sticks/USB drives.

If you get a PDA with Wi-fi, then many places offer free wifi (restaurants, coffee houses etc).
