Default Memory Card Speeds

Hi all, nice looking forum so i have decided to join you all

I'll start my posts with a question i hope you all can answer.

Ive just bought a HP 4700 PDA and am going to use it for GPS navigation with a bluetooth receiver.
I am looking for a memory card, but want the best out of it all so i am wondering what media is typically faster?

It has a compactflash card and a SD slot.

I will probably purchase a 1gb card.

Could you please advise which would be quicker and if possible quote typical speeds of these two types of card. I currently use compactflash for my digital camera and sd for my camcorder so can swap about whatever one i buy.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you are going to get a 1gig card make sure you get the fastest that you can. TomTom and most of the major satnav companies dont really recommend greater than a 256 card. The larger the card is the longer it can take for programs to access the information on the card, it can cause tomtom to lag when in use. Don’t get me wrong i have known people to use 1gig cards in there PDA's and it has worked fine, but make sure its a decent card and not just the cheapest.
