tried second SD card 512mb

I'm new to the gps so I know I've made the mistake some where.
When I purchased my TTG 500 I did everything to get me up and running. Although the 'nuts & bolts' of running the system must be the same as the computer, (I'm not very clever with that either), of I went. My extras arrived one being the 512 mb SD card. I loaded it on TTG and it instructed me that all was not well (I can't remember exactly).
When I started everything loaded O.K. but first time in my computer that it hasn't told me that its 'new software loaded', also there is nothing on my program list to say it is there.
Before I load/disload anything can you tell what I've done wrong, any extra program needed, is it faulty

i am slightly confused on what you are trying to do. I am supprised you managed to get a TTGO 500 can i ask where u got ur hands on it? What where you loading? was it the major roads of europe u wanted on the tomtom.

Purchased Tom Tom GO 500 from 'Global Pasitioning Systems' about 1 month ago.
Loaded the 'resource CD setup' on my computer. (windows XP) Everything loaded O.K.
1st suspicions was that the program did not let me that it had 'found new software'.
My 1st e-mail to you about a week ago what extras I needed, if any, to load/unload on my TTG 500. One item you suggested was a SD card that I could afford.
One of the extras was a 512mb. Used this on 'backup settings to my computer', system carried it out O.K.
This piont I became stuck, I didn't want to put anything 'from my computer' in case I fouled up my TTGO. (I've done that on other occasions)
As I said on an earlier message, I'm new to all this.
Questions:-
1-How do I get on form here?
2-loading 'speed cameras', how?
3-where does my computer keep the stored items as it does not let me 'see' in what area to look.
I hope I've everying clear, sorry if it is a bit long.
