2nd SD card won't load - why?

I try again for help because I don't know what I'm doing.
I've tried a few times but I seem to fall on deaf ears, I keep on trying but I'm flogging a dead horse.
Here goes, again. Tom Tom 500, Windows XP,SD card 32mb with Great Britain already loaded as it was bought that way.
Purchased some accessories because I thought they might be needed.
I tried downloading my Gt. Brit., maps from ttg to computer. Everything seemed O.K.
Tried to dowdload from my computer to new 512mb SD card now put into my ttg a fiag pops up saying the USB connection is not recogised.
Can ANYBODY help with what seems to others to be a very simple task.

Sounds more like a lead problem or the usb port ? have you got a mate who's got a pc you can use or another port or how about someone else with a TTG. ? sorry I'm not that technical just stating all the obvoius. Almost sounds like the port is receiving data only ?

yeah man sounds like you might have a busted usb cable/port have you tried a new cable or a new port...sometimes it's as simple as that m8, hope you get it working soon man!
