Angry GPRS connection problems: iPaq h410 & T610 T-Mobile

I am trying to use a Sony Ericsson T610 with a T-mobile SIM to form a gprs connection with an h4100 iPaq (running Pocket PC 2003). I have, I think the settings all right. The data connection I am trying to use is set up as follows:

Name: T-Mobile GPRS
CID: 6
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
User ID: User
Password: pass (or: one2one - I have tried both)
Password Request: Off
Allow Calls: Automatic
IP Address: 149.254.1.10
DNS Address: blank
Authentication: Normal
Data & Header Compression: Off

On the PDA:

Connection name: gprs connection
Modem: Bluetooth Dialup Modem
Number: *99# (or *99***6#)
User: User
Password: pass (or one2one - I've tried both)
Baud Rate: 57600
Don't wait for dial tone
Extra dial string commands: none (or +cgdcont=6,"IP","general.t-mobile.co.uk" - I've tried both)
Cancel if not connected in 120 sec
Don't use software or IP header compression
All else as standard.
No dialling rules.

The Bluetooth connection between the PDA and the mobile is working fine but when I attempt to establish a connection, the mobile just displays 'connecting...' endlessly or the PDA displays a 'the mobile has disconnected' message.

I am using my old t-mobile (originally one2one) SIM in a handset that was locked to Orange. It has been unlocked and works fine as phone. It has received two SIM updates from t-mobile.

I am not certain whether there is something more I can do or whether the fact that the phone was originally set to Orange (or something else) is the problem.

I have a pay as you go account with t-mobile.

Any ideas?
