Default No modem other end

My Axim X3s Bluetooth connects to my Motorola E500 mobile phone, dials the number of my ISP, the ISP "Picks Up" and after a while Bluetooth drops the line saying there is no modem at the other end, even though I know there is - (I know it's correct & works, because I can both hear it if I dial direct, and can connect using my laptop).

The only "Modem" the Axim allows me to use to connect to the phone is the generic Bluetooth one, if I set it to Hayes compatible: which would be my natural instinct; Bluetooth won't connect and dial. Any suggestions?

Have you had a look at our guide to bluetooth with GPRS?
I would recommend that you use GPRS instead of WAP (cheaper as you only pay for what you download and faster)

I've prnted that out Steven, but its illustrations bear little relationship to what appears on my screen. It still doesn't answer the question as to why my Axim doesn't recognise the modem at the other end, when my laptop does, and quite happily accesses the net. It seems that, as it were, T-Mobile speaks English, while the Axim talks in French.

Mite sound daft, but does TMobile actually provide a GPRS service ? and if so are you subscribed to it as part of your phone package ?

It works if I connect to the net through the cable to the phone from my laptop, whether that's WAP or GPRS I don't know - I don't care which one connects, as long as one of them does!

WAP and GPRS are both wireless methods and are not employed when using a cabled dialup connection. Like chris said, have you ensured you are subscribed to a GPRS account with T-Mobile?

GPRS is a mobile connection that you pay only for what you download, it can be cheaper than WAP. WAP you call a number just like your old dialup internet access and get charged per min.
