Default H3970 SD slot problem?

Hello, I am having a problem with the SD slot on my H3970. It no longer reads the SD card. It recognises that a card is present and asks if I would like to format the card, but even selecting 'Yes' it fails to preform this or read the card.

This happens with any card I insert.

Is there any way to fix this? If not I will need to replace the iPAQ either with another H3970 or with a better model that can be used in the same active cradles (and has a serial port as this is the main use). Is the H55xx suitable for this, or are there any others?

Thanks in advance,

Shaun

I think the 38,39,54 and 55 series all use the same cradle.

They have all been discontinued for about 3 or 4 years though.

None of the new models will fit the cradles or work with serial connections.

Hi, I casually saw your post and having had the same problem I hope to be of some help. My H3950 had the same symptoms and hard resetting didn't solve. So I opened it (same operation as the one to change battery) and I discovered that the problem was mechanical: one pin of the SD slot was bent. The SD slot is soldered, so with some efforts I managed to set it straight, checking with the PDA opened the there was continuity from the pins and the SD card. Not easy job, but it was successful.
Good luck

Paolo
