Updating Rom Query

Hi - It has been suggested to me that I update the Rom on my Ipaq 6510 to solve some issues I am having with TomTom 6.
I know that I will lose all my software and have to reinstall afterwards.

My question is this. Will I need to reinstall everything on the machine afterwards like the Operating System and other Pre-Installed programs that were bundled with it?

Also - will the Built in Backup facility restore everything, including software?

The ROM contains the OS and everything that is supplied from the factory.

If you have Sprite backup, this *should* restore everything afterwards, but may not as it may think it's a different system after the new ROM.
