Default Resetting serial ports on Ipaq 3715

Hello, I recently had to buy a new bluetooth GPS (BlueNext BN-906GR) to connect to my Ipaq which runs TomTom 6. Pairing was successful. However, the GPS manual said I needed to change the outbound serial port in Bluetooth settings to number 8. It is on 6. The Ipaq would not allow me to change the outbound port and BlueNext are not interested in finding a solution. Any thoughts? Any help gratefully received.
