sync horror!

Hi

I use active sync 4.5 with and Outlook 2007 with my iPAQ 6915. I've just deleted two hundred contacts from Outlook and expected them to delete off the iPAQ when I next sycnronized. But the deleted contacts have reappeared in Outlook! Can anyone tell me why? Surely i don't have to go to my handheld and manually delete the same contacts?!
