Unhappy hx4700/tomtom bluetooth

TomTom wont load on the 4700 unless I, a) download activesync 3.8 and, b) sign in as a guest and, c) download a new set up from TomTom 4.4.3. It has taken some time to find all this out and do, TomTom now works. In the process it has locked up my iPaq twice. Now as a guest I can't sync with the PDA as I would in a partnership. If I am a guest, when I cradle the PDA the connection wizard starts and allows me to change to partnership if I want. If I am logged as a partner the wizard does not appear on screen to allow a change back to a guest. If I try to operate TomTom while a partnership, it locks up. Can I swap between partnership and guest? easily without the hassle I am having at the moment.

Welcome to our forums.
I don't know why you are having the problems you are but I would remove all the partnerships from your Activesync FILE --> MOBILE DEVICE and start with a new partnersip to see if it helps. I don't think it's that easy to swap between a partnership and a guest because if the partnership is already setup then it'll pick up the partnership each time its sync'd. The only way you can is to change the Device_ID of your iPAQ each time you sync.

Hi Charlie,TomTom technical help told me it would not work unless I was a "guest" so they know there is a problem with the 4700. HP PDA team were not interested in the problem ( very dissapointing ) as it was a 3rd party ( TomTom) issue, they said. However you see that I cannot use the PDA for its intended normal purpose if I want to run the GPS. I will try what you suggest and will let you know the outcome.

Charlie I have changed the setting from Guest to Partnership and TomTom is now working without trying your actual suggestion of removing partnerships. I suspect the problem is / was that the TomTom software is best loaded as a "guest" and the upgrade to 4.4.3 is a new fix? However many thanks for your advice which prompted me to try again.

What is 4.4.3? The latest update I can see for TomTom Navigator3 is v3.07.
