Important Note!

The RUU is designed to replace the current ROM image and to erase the partnership and all user data and programs on the iPAQ handheld. It is important to read and understand the information in the Readme file that is included with this update BEFORE installing the package.

Fixes

Fixes issue with CF Modem connection and dropped connections.

Fixes some instances of the issue indicated by the "BTTracyCE.exe" error message.

Prerequisites

Microsoft ActiveSync 3.7.1 (or later) is required.

Notes

PURPOSE
Recommended
OPERATING SYSTEM(S):
Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC 2003 SE
NOTE: HP is currently planning to release a full ROM update beginning in May 2005 that will address the two issues listed in this document, as well as including other enhancements and fixes. Customers who are not experiencing the issues listed in this SoftPaq are advised to wait until the May 2005 update is released before applying a ROM update to their handhelds, as this update only addresses the two listed issues. Customers who are experiencing the listed issues are advised to apply this ROM update to resolve the listed issues.

Installation

HOW TO USE:

Download the SoftPaq .EXE to a directory on your hard drive.

Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the ROM Update files to a directory. (NOTE: This directory should not contain any file or folder from any previous ROM Upgrade.)
NOTE: Downloading and extracting the Softpaq files to the root directory, that is C:\, may generate an error. To avoid this potential issue, specify a download location other than C:\ or choose one of the default locations.

Establish an Activesync connection between the handheld and host PC using the USB connection.

The ROM Update Utility (RUU.exe) will start automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the ROM upgrade.
NOTE: Once the update is complete, the .EXE file downloaded in Step 1 can be deleted, if desired.
