This is my first go at this. Ive used my HP 5450 for 2yrs its got TomTom(new version). its been great, use it all the time and always back up!! I tried to switch on this morning - nothing - tried reset- screen flashed and so did all leds(power, wifi & bluetooth) nothing- put it onto the USB cradle same flash but nothing. I fear the worst! If its dead whats a good replacement?
Try connecting the charger directly to the bottom of the PDA with a dongle and make sure its plugged in and switched on. Then press the reset button a few times (or loads) and see if it comes on, usually works for me.
There is no direct replacement any more, so if you use any jackets on the PDA you will not be able to use them on any of the new model iPAQs.
Thanks for your reply Charlie. Ive only got the USB cradle to charge it with so I tried the TomTom cables in the car and pressed reset loads of times-nothing. Phoned HP tech help they said try charging for 24 hours then press reset. So its charging at present will try reset tomorrow and let you know! Ive no jackets so a replacement could be any PDA as long as it will run tomtom 3 and give me word, excel & calendar whats the minimum? My confidence in the iPAQ is very dented ive only had it 2yrs (or is that a long time for a PDA?)
It's back on but although i did a soft reset but its done a hard reset except for my pin and fingerprint. I will load everything back on. Might this happen again? Should I see if there are any updates from HP?
It may happen again if you dont keep the battery well charged. To be honest 2 years is quite old for a PDA although I know people who have had them much longer. They can experience a lot of punishment for a small device.
I've an old Jornada 525, bought it four an a half years ago and used it for the first twelve months on a cycling trip around the world. It took a right beating in dirt roads in NZ, got cooked in Aus, but still working fine. (Just a bit slow in comparison to the 2210)
