4150 WiFi

Would appreciate some advice. My 4150 will not log on to, or find, any WiFi sites. I've been walking up and down the high street today, stopping by at each coffee shop advertising WiFi, but nothing. The green light is on, bluetooth is off, and even Netstumbler doesn't blink an eye. I'm assuming that it's something dead simple, but what ? My settings show 'My Work Network', and under Networks, it's showing, Netgear, BTopenzone and belkin54g...all 'Unavailable'.
Thanks for any input.
ps To double check , I took my laptop with Centrino into Cafe Nero, and it worked a treat, (having paid of course.)

backup your information and do a hard reset to set back to factory defaults, then try again if it does not work then its dead sorry.
