email etc with ipaq 6340

sory for the dumb question as i am new to the phone pda's...

... i have just bought the above, mainly because of the email and internet access. i have it on a vodaphone contract and have noticed that i can only receive emails, surf net etc when the sim card is installed. Does this mean that i have to pay vodaphone everytime i connect to check if i have received emails etc?

If you are on a GPRS plan then you are charged per the amoount of data your transmit/receive as opposed to how much time you spend online. Check you contract details for costs.
