Default HP 4700 install issues

I am using a hp 4700 with a CF & SD memory cards and was running esri's Arcpad which was loaded on to the main memory.

I am new to pdas and let the battery downcharge (not something I will EVER do again!) with the result that I came back to what resembles a hard reset?

The batteries are now showing fully charged and I am trying to reinstall Arcpad to the main memory, it will only install to one of the memory cards even having selected main memory as the desired location during the install. Further to this I have a number of ghost Arcpad icons (6) listed under programs which I seem to be unable to remove short of an uninstall which takes me back to square one.

The 4700 was running fine until the lack of charging issue and now its having mare, all help welcome

Welcome to our forums.
It seems you have lost most but not all of the data. It would be recommended that you perform a full hard reset then proceed to reinstall your software.

Many thanks, I have carried out a full hard reset which has cleared the ghost Arcpad icons in programs.

I am still having problems with the install location for the new install of Arcpad, wherever I indicate, it installs to the SD card. I would like it to end up in the main memory, how can I acheive this?

I'm not familiar with the program but maybe the memory card is its default location for installation. What happens if you remove all your memory cards before you start the install?

ArcPad 6.0.3 should install to the main memory by default.

One way round this is to uninstall ArcPad from within ActiveSync. Open active sync and click Tools --> Add/Remove programs...

In the form that pops up select ArcPad and select OK
Then open the form again and reselect ArcPad but this time untick the box below that says "Install program into the default instalation folder"
You shold now get the choice of location. If it dosent let you this time you may not have enough space on your memory.

Hope this helps!

Mark.
