Unhappy HP2210 losing all installed programs.....

My Wife's 2210, with TomTom3, has, on 3 occasions, lost all the programs I've installed, all 'default' HP software seems to be OK - The only way to get them back is to re-install (although the TomTom maps are still on the SD card).

The battery seems to only last about 10 hours in standby mode (with no Infrared/ Bluetooth enabled)*** - then it goes "dead" and all software lost - Most recently, today TomTom disappeared when she took the iPaq out of the Car Cradle - this time the iPaq was still working, but TomTom was not there! - a bit of a pain when she was trying to find a route around a major car accident.

I'm not sure about software/ firmware versions - but I can get those when she eventually gets home

*** is this right? isnt there suposed to be a backup battery? how long should the they last?

Many Thanks

Rich

Welcome to our forums.
The backup battery last a very short time. It's only to allow you to change batteries to be honest and is not intended to be used as a failsafe. 10 hours does seem a bit short for standby. How old is the iPAQ?

I bought it for Xmas 2004

An update.... After re-installing TomTom, I made sure infrared/ bluetooth was switched off and all running programs were stopped, screen switched off, and seems to be ok after 3 days in standby mode - but I'm still concerned that it lost everything with a full battery on taking it out of the car cradle - I've told the other half to make sure the power is off to the cradle before taking out the iPaq - may be it was a short that caused the problems?
