Default hx4700 rom upgrade

Having lost the sound with Tomtom etc and seeing that there was a upgrade on the HP site I thought it would make sense to upgrade.
The upgrade it self has gone ok but it's put it back to "new" spec. Problem is it has lost everything I have ever put in (Tomtom etc.) most is not the end of the world as I have disks etc. But I cannot back up on activesync as it now thinks this it is a different machine and will only eccept it as a guest.

Delete the old partnership from the FILE menu in Activesync.

Trying to reload Tomtom 5 it comes up with "unkown device architecture" and hangs the install. Could this be the Rom upgrade causing this?
