bambino,
I think I may have found the answer to your question and the one I posted myself yesterday about .acc files. Following joining the forum I scoured the web for references to .aac audio and found this page;
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download
This player has a codec for .mp4 files and plays my .aac audio with no problems on my hx 4700. I simply downloaded the main file tcpmp.setup.0.66 plus the codecs listed for acc, vorbis, ac3 and ffmpeg.
Then ran tcpmp.setup.0.66 with the ipaq hx 4700 in hte cradle and loaded the programme to the main storage area. Run the codec files called simple set up and they seem to load but be sure to put them in the same directory.
When you start your iPaq and go to programmes, an icon for Core Media Player will have appeared just tap and go. It is happily playing the .aac audio files a friend sent me I think these are an Apple format for the iPod. Mp3 files also play but i don't have anything else to test it with yet.
So far it is runing well on the iPaq hx 4700 and would probably be fine on other models in the range. The software is shareware so if you come to love it (as i think I will) send the developer a donation to help him improve the programme.
Let me know how you get on with it.
