Great question and one I'd be very interested in as well, tried upload an MP4 file from my phone to my iPaq the other day and it wouldn't play :-(

Will have a look around and see what I can find.

bambino,

I think I may have found the answer to your question and the one I posted myself yesterday about .acc files. Following joining the forum I scoured the web for references to .aac audio and found this page;

http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download

This player has a codec for .mp4 files and plays my .aac audio with no problems on my hx 4700. I simply downloaded the main file tcpmp.setup.0.66 plus the codecs listed for acc, vorbis, ac3 and ffmpeg.

Then ran tcpmp.setup.0.66 with the ipaq hx 4700 in hte cradle and loaded the programme to the main storage area. Run the codec files called simple set up and they seem to load but be sure to put them in the same directory.

When you start your iPaq and go to programmes, an icon for Core Media Player will have appeared just tap and go. It is happily playing the .aac audio files a friend sent me I think these are an Apple format for the iPod. Mp3 files also play but i don't have anything else to test it with yet.

So far it is runing well on the iPaq hx 4700 and would probably be fine on other models in the range. The software is shareware so if you come to love it (as i think I will) send the developer a donation to help him improve the programme.

Let me know how you get on with it.

I've installed this onto my iPaq H2200 and it works perfectly with .3gp and .mp4 files, although 2 that i've got that play on my phone wont play on the iPaq, says that "Data partitioning feature is not supported" - I've not had a chance to look on their forum yet but it's probably been sorted :-)

Still very happy with it so far, cheers Soundman, great find !

Thanks a lot for your help

I have probs with my PC at the moment (so can't download anything on my ipaq now).

I will download this as soon as possible and let you know how it works.

I have another question though. It's not that long that I bought this ipaq (my first one) and I am bit struggling going online as I can't connect to any networks via wifi. How do you guys do that when for example on the train/bus and want to check email etc??? I don't have a bluetooth on my mobile so if there is another way of geting connected please let me know (otherwise I will get better mobile and try it that way). Heard bit about skype but not quite sure if this what I would need.

I haven't had the 4700 long enough to find a Wi-Fi hotspot to try it. Last time I was in Amsterdam at a tade show there was free Wi-Fi area privided but the iPaq had switched itself on and run down the battery so couldn't try it out.

I have connected via Bluetooth on my mobile to my service provider a couple of times to try that out and it works fine.

Have you had a look at Nero Showtime for mobiles/PDA?

See: http://www.nero.com/en/Nero_ShowTime_Mobile.html

You need to be a registered user of Nero to download this beta.
