Angry HP 5550 - help appreciated.

I upgraded from a Palm to an HP 5550 about a year ago and now found out that the HP 5550 is discontinued. I have tried to get some support and failed.

Is there anyone out there who can assist with the following questions?

1. How can I set up the H5550 to access the mobile internet?

2. Why do my connections keep on failing after several attempts? I was on dial up and now on broadband with wanadoo.

3. What headphones can I buy to listen to music that I have (successfully) transferred from Windows Media Player for Mobile PC?

4. Why is the battery life so appalling?

5. What is an Ethernet card and why do I need to purchase one? (You can tell that I am not a techhie!!!)

6. Why was I not told that this particular ipaq was going to be discontinued and no amount of attempts to get support from HP was going to resolve my issues?

7. Why is the companion cd so useless?

Thank you for reading this and for any help you can give me.

A disappointed PDA wannabe fan.

Mobro

1) You can connect to a Bluetooth enabled phone to access the web via WAP or GPRS
2) How are you connecting to the phone? have you setup the correct GPRS/WAP settings?
3) Check the audio jack for size but standard headphones.
4) If you have BT, WIFI and backlight on then it will drain the battery, also check your ROM image against the updated version at
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi.../105_5643.html
5) Ethernet card is a LAN card for your PC (not your PDA) so you can plug into a network
6) All PDA's goes end of life at some point, HP will support you if you are under warranty.
7) i dont know what you mean by useless?

Talking H5550 response

Steve - thank you very much for your response. [quote=Stevie]1) You can connect to a Bluetooth enabled phone to access the web via WAP or GPRS - thank you for this.

2) How are you connecting to the phone? have you setup the correct GPRS/WAP settings? I managed to connect to the phone when I was on wanadoo dial up using the settings their help desk gave me but not I have moved onto broadband, do the same settings apply?

3) Check the audio jack for size but standard headphones.

I can't find headphones to purchase. Everyone keeps on telling me not to buy the bluetooth headphones as they are not good. Any suggestions?

4) If you have BT, WIFI and backlight on then it will drain the battery, also check your ROM image against the updated version at
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi.../105_5643.html

5) Ethernet card is a LAN card for your PC (not your PDA) so you can plug into a network - ok, so I won't buy this for my pda then.

6) All PDA's goes end of life at some point, HP will support you if you are under warranty. I am no longer on warranty so rely on sites like this and have exhausted the it guys at work, they are fed up of me.

7) i dont know what you mean by useless? The cd was meant to provide support but it is all for active sync and that's it. It does not provide any questions and answers or how to set internet and email up.

thanks for any help you can give.
