Default Ipaq 4700 low memory

My new Ipaq 4700 is very low on memory, can anyone tell me hoe to dedicate more memory to run programs, it is currently allocating 45.55 to storage, 16.73 to programs. with44.28 in use in storage, 12.44 in programs, 1.27 mb free in storage and 4.29 mb free in program,
this is driving me up the wall, as it will not run TT5 and I need other files on for business, I am seriously thinking of buying a Dell X50v. and hope this is better,
any help would be appreciated.

Hi
Hope this is not too late, have only just stumbled across this forum.
Sounds like you are installing everything to the default location, I install any software that does not need to run at the pda startup, i.e games, certain apps etc to a CF Card.

Anything that runs on startup , i.e pocketplus, pocket weather in the ipaq file store. I never install anything to the default install which seems to be main memory.

I have loads of programs and tomtom 5.21 and i am using

7.49 storage memory In use with 8.41 available free
and
16.11 program memory In use with 30.27mb free

I used the slider in the memory to allocate 15.90 to storage memory leaving 46.38 allocated to program

As i said i do not install ANY software to the default location, it all goes to either CF Card or ipaq file store, if i did not have the CF Card it would all go to ipaq file store.

Hope this helps and it is not too late, in that you have already sorted it

thanks
badgerdid

Hi, thanks for the reply, however the onlt thing that had gone onto the main memory was a backup of contacts from my computer whilst syncing, all tom tom etc was installed on CF card, I have just ordered a Dell X50v, so if anyone wants an Ipaq which has only been used a matter of days, it is going to go on ebay, I tried having a look at sliding the bar on the memory setting across and it always went back to default.
thanks for the tips though.

Hi,
I was starting to get low memory problems on my 4700, and was starting to get fed up... but then I simply cleared the History and web content from Internet Explorer and lots of memory suddenly reappeared! I may have done a soft reset afterwards. In Internet Explorer, use Tools - Options - Memory.
