Haya

I was just wondering if there is anything I could do to speed up my hx4700

When I am switching between programmes it takes a while before the screen reloads the new application. The memory should be OK as there is currently 8.81mb free on main memory and 78.08mb free on storage memory card

I have tried to search for answer on this forum, but cannot find one so apologies if there already is one somewhere

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi,
I have recently found that fragmentation can be a big problem on a PDA just like on a PC. I just registered a product called storage tools from a firm called SoftWinter. It only cost uk£9 to register and its very effective! If you have missing memory on storage card or file stores this can be as a result of files that were open during prior to a reset being left as lost chains and hence soaking up space, this product will convert these to files so you can look at them or typically just delete them. As for your performance problem, after a defrag I found my Tomtom and the PDA generally runs a load faster.
Might be worth a look...there is a 15 day demo if you want to try before you buy.
Regards
Pete

I would say 8 meg is not enough, this is why you are so sloooooowwww, is there a reason you only have this available?

You should install all programs to file store or cards, never install to default location, i have loads of programs installed and have 31 meg free program memory and am only using 9.37 meg of storage memory.

There are plenty of posts around on optimizing the memory. I suggest you hard re-set and reinstall your programes to ipaq file store or cards.
