HP1940 turning itself on!

I have owned an iPaq HP1940 for over a year now with an absolutely faultless record. It was purchased as part of a bluetooth TomTom pack and has been upgraded to the latest version of OS (1.10) and TomTom is version 5.120.

Recently, and for no apparent reason, my trusty 1940 has started to turn itself on! To start with, it was every night at midnight, but now it's happening every half hour or so and each time I check it, it has taken it upon itself to run ActiveSync in the background. I've checked all the auto options and made sure that any syncing is set to manual.

So any ideas what's going on here folks? Your help and advice would be most appreciated, before my battery fades completely...
