Tracing paper over screen background

I have a 2210 (15 months old) and have just tried changing the screen backgroung picture to a non-standard one.

When I change the picture it looks as if it is behind a sheet of tracing paper or net curtain - but the 2 standard pictures do not look like this.

I cannot see anything in the options to turn this "curtain" off.

Any suggestions?

What resolution of background image are you using?
The 2210 has a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and supports 64,000 colours so your image will have to match this to be displayed correctly.

Managed to work it out - if yiou change the screen background via the Pictures "programme" it allows you to set the transparency - this was set to 65%
