Default Ipaq H4150.. Which is the best SD card...

Hi everyone.

I have had an Ipaq 4150 for a while now, and want to make it into a sat nav system.
I am buying bits for it , and already have the tomtom software and cradle/charger.
I am looking for the GPS reciever, which it looks like the Holux GPSlim is favourite..
Now I need a decent SD card to store all the maps / Programs.

My question is what card to get?
I am wondering whether the ultra fast cards are worth the extra amount , if the SD slot of the Ipaq isnt up to speed with the cards.
I cant see the point in having a card which transfers data at 20mb /sec , when say the Ipaq can only handle 5mb...

Does anyone know what the optimum card is , and what speed the Ipaq manages to read/write at...

Rgds
Neil

Kingston cards are not bad, if you need to get a large card to store data and are using tomtom the larger card can slow down the application.

Many thanks steve.
So rather than a 512 with maybe 4 maps on, it might be better to put on 2 maps onto 2x 256 mb cards.

What about the speed of the card though. I see that Kingston do a standard , elite , and the faster Ultimate cards..
Would I see any difference within these three cards. Can the ipaq handle the high transfer rates of the ultimate , or is it wasting money buying it..

I'm using a 512 card from Crucial.com

Seems to run just fine as the std, although they do do faster cards, but obv at a premium. Most Ipaqa support upto x80 cards, although check the specs on the HP site before splashing out on a faster card to check you'll get the full speed.

For what it's worth, I'm now up to a 4gb card, from Hong Kong. All seems well, and way over half is in use.

Just been on a live interactive web session with a HP engineer, who told me the 4150's maximum transfer rate is 17MBps thru the SD slot..

I will get a card that has a similar rate.

Thanks for all your help.
