iPAQ hx4700 will only charge from USB

Hi, my hx4700 will only charge from the USB when sitting in it's cradle or when connected to a USB cable. It will not charge using the mains adapter and I wonder if anybody else has seen this or knows the solution? I have hard reset the device but it still refused to charge. The battery, both main and standby, hold charge. The device was purchased mid-February.

If you can, try another mini jack charger. Either the charger is faulty, or that part (mini jack) of the charging circuit on the PDA is.
