 Compaq Ipaq H3850 problem

Ok I am having problems with the above ipaq h3850. bought as second user all worked great (Sat Nav) then unaware allowed the unit to lose its charge Grrrrrrrr!
Lost all sat nav and some games like sonic the hedgehog etc. although i thought they were on the 256mb hypertec sd card that came in it but it appears not or it comes up with message about compact flash card not recognised ??? (compact flash???? but its secure digital) so i tried loading direct from my computer on to a 1gb keymem sd card all the tom tom 3 disk and it said that was full when it got to around 500mb but tried it in ipaq and it still wont let me get back on sat nav saying compact flash card not recognised again.
I am not that familiar with these pda's but have disks ie tomtom 3 navigator back up and the full compaq disk which includes ms outlook 2002 and ms activesync 3.5 and the cables didnt get cradle with it as that got broke before i bought it so got a hand made version to hold it in the card. and never got user guide with it although i believe this to be on compaq disk.
Ok so that's the story so far can anyone help guide me through what i am supposed to do to get the sat nav back on to this ipaq ? please
