Search facility

I Have an ipaq 2790 and I used the search facility yesterday to check something. It didnt pick up appointments in the calendar that I have on a recurring basis next year.
After playing around with it, I still cant get it to find apointments next year, just this year and past years. Is this normal? or do I need to tick or untick a box?
