Ipaq doesnt detect my Navman Jacket

Just got an Ipaq 3870 from a friend who has gone travelling, with what was a working GPS system. Its the Navman sleeve and i have just updated the ipaq to 2003 so i can run Tom Tom 6. I also stupidly formated the CF drive on the Navman (didnt occur to me that it may have had drivers on etc.). My problem is that i cant even get the Ipaq to register plugging the Navman in, it doesnt seem to detect it at all??? Please help if you can as i am going away soon and need to get it working for the trip
