Question 4150 - wifi hardware problem

A couple of days ago, the wifi on my trusty 4150 stopped working.

It turns on/off ok and behaves like its working but doesn't see my access point any more unless I put it right up to the access point.

I have other wifi devices which have no such problems.

Even though it detected the access point at extreme close range, it won't connect.

I did a soft reset, then a hard reset in the hope that wifi would work as normal, but no luck.

Has the wifi chip turned up its toes? The removable and on-board batteries are still good.

Last year I replaced the screen, and I know it's possible to replace the motherboard but not sure if it's worth it.

I haven't seen any Ipaqs I like as much as the 4150. Could anyone recommend a decent handheld with wifi? Any yet with WM6?

I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II, but the screen is a lot smaller and the wifi is not so strong.

Sounds Kaput!

You might be able to change some components. www.ipaqrepair.co.uk should have parts. I wouldnt think it would be worth it though.

No HP's have windows 6 except for the Ipaq 514 which is actually a smart phone.

You might want to look at the 5935 its a great spec with wifi and has GPS built in.
