HP 3970 + Tomtom navigator compatibility

This is a discussion on HP 3970 + Tomtom navigator compatibility within the HP forums, part of the Pocket PC category; I have a HP 3970 and was trying to use a tomtom navigator 6 on it but with no luck....

Question HP 3970 + Tomtom navigator compatibility

I have a HP 3970 and was trying to use a tomtom navigator 6 on it but with no luck.it keeps saying "no valid gps signal".are those two above compatible at all?

Probably not since its an older version of windows on that pda.

Originally it had a windows mobile 2002 and I couldn't even start the tomtom aplication on my pda but I have upgrated it to 2003.after that tomtom was starting but was not working properly (no valid gps signal).

You might need to go into GPS preference and change to the correct settings for your GPS receiver.

I have a 3950 which I think is in the same series and I was told that can not run version 6.

My guess is that teh 3970 can not either. I get the exact same error message as he does!

I have Tomtom6 on my ipaq 3970 and runs fine. just make sure you have the right gps in the preferences. Check your cable if you have the wired gps by tomtom. where the gps cable goes into the small black connector then on to the pda connector this wire can be damaged. i had to have mine repaired. worked fine with tt5 but tt6 wouldnt accept the wiring problem. now mine was 3yrs old but the wire from the gps into the socket was badly done/designed!! they replaced free of charge and a friend had the very same problem with tt6 and the wired gps cable.
