Default HP IPAQ2790 Tomtom Nav 6

I have an HP IPAQ2790 and recently bought a compact flash GPS reciever which slots directly in the CF slot on top of the PDA. I have installed TomTom Navigator 6 on the PDA's memory and installed the corresponding maps onto a 2GB SD card (Since the IPAQ takes CF and SD simultaneously) I activated the software and from the configuration menu of the navigator i have chosen other NMEA GPS devices, Baud Rate 4800 and the CF slot. The GPS light goes green and starts flashing red looking for a signal. The Navigator shows "Waiting for a valid GPS signal" It never worked and never found a signal!! I havent changed anything in the windows GPS settings. What could be wrong??

Make sure you leave it for a long time to get its first fix, can take 10 minutes or so, as it says waiting for a valid gps signal its just waiting for your gps to figure out where it is, if it said waiting for a gps device then it means it isnt finding the cf gps unit, just turn it on, and go outside and wait.

Default RE: IPAQ2790 + Tomtom Nav 6

I thought i was getting somewhere, turned it on and left it for about 2 hrs outside in the balcony without moving. Everynow and again i went out to have a look and there was progress, 1 bar had been filled so it had found 1 satellite. I left it until i cane back and found it off with a drained battrey I charged it overnight and put it back out this morning hoping it will work. Thanks for your advice.

Joff
