| | Media syncing with a 614c Well this is my first post, and I am a keen user but not that knowledgeable, so please be gentle with me. I have just bought the HP iPAQ 614c and I need some help.
I cannot get the windows media player to recognise the ipaq, thus I cannot transfer my videos onto the ipaq. I have tried the drag & drop method but it does not recognise the file type.
I seem to remember trying this with the old 6915 and it did not work then either, that is how I discovered the media sync method.
Any suggestions |

| | I am running windows vista with the latest version of media player, I also use the latest version of WMDC.
As I said earlier the same software worked with the iPAQ 6915, so I cannot understand why it will not work with this.
I have checked all the setings on WMDC, but cannot find anything on Windows Media to check, also I am unsure what to check on the iPAQ 614c. |

| | Is it not transferring the files or not playing them.

| | Does the device appear in windows explorer or my computer.
You should be able to drag and drop the files from there. Quote:

| | Yes it appears everywhere except in Windows media.
I have tried the drag and drop method, but unfortunately it does not work for video files, its OK for music.
I think there must be some sort of conversion goes on to change the format to something mobile can read, similar to office documents.
Maybe if I knew the file type I could download some conversion software and try that. |

| | If the files are the wrong format media player wont play them it wont matter how there transferred.
You could try a different player like pocket tv or pmp player. They can play formats that media player can't.
Theres lot of video converter around as well that will output in a format you can use. Quote:

| | It just seems criminal to me to add software when I already have software that will do the job.
I would much prefer converting the files and copying them through file explorer, BUT I need to know the format. |

| | I am well p****d off now, and I must confess completely confused.
I went ahead and installed an alternative media player so that I could sync my media. Low and behold, whilst syncing data I was watching a video, and guess what, the iPAQ was there in Windows media waiting to be sync'd.
So problem solved, how I do not know. | |
